Hi Judi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into graphic design began unexpectedly in high school, when my typing teacher informed me that I had a talent for typography – easily the most exciting revelation to come out of learning “The Quick Brown Fox…”. I went on to study Graphic Design and Marketing in college and by my fourth year, I had already accepted a position at a printing company, where I was mentored & learned how ideas translate from screen to paper. After spending the bulk of my career with two companies – one for 15 years and the other for 12 – I realized I had collected enough experience (and fonts) to confidently branch out on my own.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a design and printing business is rarely predictable – in fact, surprises come with the territory. While today’s technology and quick-design apps are impressive tools, achieving a truly professional, polished result still requires expertise (after all, you wouldn’t ask a mechanic to design your business cards). Beyond the ever-changing economy, we also navigate outside forces like online printing giants – but experience & partners makes all the difference. With decades spent in the industry – not just admiring it from afar – we’ve built strong partnerships and a trusted process. Every project is personally managed by me and as a particularly picky business owner, I insist that only the best will do.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I recently rediscovered my love of reading after being diagnosed with ADHD at 52 – and it turns out I was just waiting for the right chapter to begin. One of my favorite reads so far is CABIN by Patrick Hutchison. It’s a quick read with a lasting message: “CABIN” is really about finding your happy place – and then actually going to find it.
I also make a habit of checking industry-specific sites daily to stay current on what’s trending and what’s earning a collective thumbs-down these days. I take it all in with an open mind, though, because 30+ years of real-world experience has a way of cutting through the noise and reminding you what truly works.
